It used to take decades for a fashion brand to become successful and build an audience. But in the 21st century, this can be done much faster – for example, in five years. And the young Japanese brand Ambush is convincing proof of this. In 2015, Yoon and Verbal presented their debut clothing collection in Paris, and since the interest for the brand has not subsided.

In the new collection, Yoon Ahn creative director of AMBUSH presents timeless shapes and contemporary design. AMBUSH stands out among other contemporary brands for the amount of experiment that exists in every garment of the collection. The latest collection presents rich and free cuts that enrich the neural sweaters, jackets, and pants. The contemporary design comes from an inspiration of Yoon Ahn’s childhood and her love for streetwear.

The designer has been called “the essence of modern luxury” for her ability to combine streetwear brands with diamonds, gold, and pearls and blur the line between hype fashion and high fashion. 42-year-old Yoon also cancels the idea of age – proving that the style certainly does not have it.

The jewelry mastermind Yoon Ahn has been working hard for over ten years to get to where she is right now. Her journey towards AMBUSH started when she moved from Boston to Tokyo with her husband Young-Ki to start an accessories brand. Her motivation was to create a brand that she can wear herself since she could not find the one she can wear. In the initial stages, the brand was supported by her husband’s friends-musicians: Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, with whom he once recorded music. AMBUSH began its popularity among celebrities who enthusiastically wore the products. In 2016, Yoon and Young-Ki decided that they were mature enough for the launch of the clothing line of the same name, and the following year AMBUSH got nominated for the LVMH Prize – to the surprise of the creators. As a result, the brand became one of the eight finalists of the competition.

Yoon says he does not aspire to be a style icon: “I’m not an influencer who just sits in the front row of a fashion show, I’m a designer. Yes, I sometimes wear the same look for several days. ” However, she is still slightly disingenuous: since she may be the first to appear in the new Nike x Sacai, flies from New York to Tokyo with a Rimowa x Supreme suitcase, which has not even gone on sale yet, and still sits in the front row – next to Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss.
