The two major fashion houses decided to join forces: rumors began to appear on the network and social networks that the collaboration was being prepared by Gucci and Balenciaga. None of the alleged partners confirmed this to the publication but did not deny it until it was revealed on April 15.
Typically, major fashion brands collaborate with artists, brands outside of the fashion world or turn to pop culture phenomena. Gucci has succeeded on all fronts – remember just the last three projects: with the archival prints of Ken Scott, with The North Face and with The Pokémon, the author of the popular game Pokémon Go. Now the Italian Maison has probably decided to raise the stakes and team up with another brand of the same size.
However, the joint project of the creative directors of Gucci and Balenciaga, Alessandro Michele and Demna Gvasalia, most likely, little can intervene. Both brands are owned by the French holding Kering. Plus, the collaboration got a lot of attention, which both Gucci and Balenciaga benefits from.
