Returning to work on Off-White, Virgil Abloh, in his usual manner, compared to the effect of an impending tornado. After the “death of streetwear”, which the designer himself proclaimed a few months earlier, Abloh radically redefined priorities. The new brand direction meets the demand for a more mature style: street aesthetics are gradually being replaced by modern classics. However, there is not even a hint of traditional men’s tailoring: two-piece suits are distinguished by loose silhouettes and decorative holes, and the designer preferred blouses made of flowing silk to starched shirts.
With all the innovations, Abloh’s special attention to prints remained unchanged. Among them are the Louvre’s iconic exhibits adorning T-shirts, modern illustrations, yellow warning signs referring to the name Tornado Warning.
In the fall-winter collection of 2020, the premiere of another collaboration with Nike – the basketball shoes Air Jordan 5. Abloh also introduced bags to the collection of accessories: large leather models and plush Jitney bags.
